Initiation 201 – Standing Pilates Matwork Course

A 15 Hour Course in The Method Pilates®

Initiation 201- Standing Pilates®, is the second course in becoming a Mat teacher. It is a 20 hour practical course which provides the link between everyday functional movement and Pilates floor work. It brings many of the classical Pilates mat exercises to vertical plane which challenges balance and spatial orientation. Standing Pilates helps in better alignment and efficiency. Students learn how to engage the pelvic floor while standing, sitting, waling, bending or lifting which is applicable in daily lives.

Some of the many benefits of Standing Pilates® are:

• Helps To Fight Osteoporosis: Standing on one leg is 4 times the body weight, hence it increases bone density.

• More Three-Dimensionality: includes the side body and internal spirals.

• Deep Core Strengthening: Benefits people with incontinence issues or postnatal mothers as the pelvic floor, transversus abdominus, multifidus and diaphragm form a cylinder of support for the spine

• Proprioception Enhancement: Benefits the aging population as a lot of focus on balance is required

This technique is truly an evolution of Pilates, as deeper connections are required to perform these new complex standing exercises.

Experience the 10 new Advanced Fundamentals. Finish with 25 of the Classic mat exercises reconfigured to Standing Pilates®. After successful completion of Initiation 101 & Initiation 201, you will be certified to teach mat Pilates.
