Initiation 101 - Pilates Matwork Course
A 15 Hour Course in The Method Pilates®
This is a 15-hour
introductory course that teaches you fundamental exercises
which explain the core principles as well as an array
of mat exercises. The course includes a discussion of
basic anatomy, trunk stability, posture types and teaching
skills as related to Pilates. Students will learn a
repertoire of 17 fundamental exercises and 31 classic
mat exercises.
Prerequisites
» 20 Mat
classes
» Anatomy of Pilates text (study material)
» BodyMind Matwork video (study material)
You are required
to complete 20 hours of Mat classes. Please sign up
with us for group Matwork sessions if you have not completed
the 20 hours requirement. Upon successful registration
with PhysicalMind Institute, a set of course material
will be sent to you. You are expected to study the materials
prior to the course.
What It Takes to Pass The
Course
» Understand
relationship of Fundamentals to Pilates exercises.
» Understand biomechanics of trunk and spinal
movement.
» Ability to do the exercises with proper form
and alignment.
» Understand terminology of handouts, reading
assignments
A "Certificate of Completion"
will be given for successful completion of the course.

The Trainer
JOANNA NG
is a certified Pilates instructor in both Mat and Equipment.
She has more than 10 years of experience as a personal
trainer and is certified through PhysicalMind Institute
in The Method® matwork in 1998 and later in the
full repertoire of Pilates equipment in Sante Fe, USA,
where she taught and trained at the same Institute.
Joanna enjoys
sharing and learning and remains committed to continual
education and training, research and keeping abreast
in the fitness industry.
